Is a bad day necessarily a bad thing?

I don’t know about you, but I didn’t have a fabulous day yesterday.

I was feeling a bit flat to start with (never a good start) and then things meandered downhill rapidly as the day progressed. Hmmm. Needless to say, by late afternoon an additional biscuit and coffee break was required as I was feeling well and truly sorry for myself.

That said, do you ever think the world works in mysterious ways? Firstly - my close friends were all on the same page. “One door closes and another one opens. Que sera sera! There are bigger and better things ahead for you!”

My updates yesterday from The Daily Love and  Marie Forleo, were both about surviving bad times and how necessary they are in order to enjoy the good times. Heaven sent perhaps?

And then I turned on the tv and saw the news of the Oklahoma tornado. Hmm, did I feel just a little bit selfish, while I was rugged up all warm and safe on my sofa, while watching the heartache that this community had endured? That would be a rather large yes.

Natural disasters aside, the moral of my less than fabulous day? Well, it made me realise that you do indeed need to have bad days in order to appreciate the good days. Bad days also help us to regroup, refocus and re-energise. However, how you move forward from a bad day or bad experience is entirely up to you - and that is where it would appear most of us get stuck.

One way I have found to help shake off a bad day or experience, aside from speaking with fabulous friends is to stop what I’m doing and have some quick ‘get my head together down time’ and do things that make me happy ….  That and get a good night’s sleep. What do you do?

Magazines .... A lovely article or photoshoot can help distract me from the issues to hand

Playing like a child ... How can you be upset when you're on a swing, with the wind blowing through your hair and giggling like a child?

Flowers always put a smile on my face. Aren't these just delightful?

Buy some flowers. Flowers always put a smile on my face, no matter what my mood.

Quotes are the best for helping to get focussed

Reading a good quote - it helps me to refocus and re-engergise

Instagram Intrigue

As someone who is relatively new to instagram, I am amazed at just how captivating it is. (Yes, I have crawled out from the large rock under which I was living.)

I love the snippets of loveliness that come my way, being introduced to new and fun things and of course those behind the scene shots, which more often than not have been stage produced to within an inch of their life.

While I try to post an image every day or so, I was intrigued to read an article on Vogue.com by Coco Rochas about why she instagrams and also just how much work she puts into it. With 421,000 followers, this isn’t just for fun ……

“Around 2006 I began noticing the photographers waiting outside runway shows were beginning to outnumber those actually working inside. They were shooting our “model-off-duty” looks and plastering them all over the Internet, where they garnered as much interest and discussion as the campaigns and editorials in which we star.”

“Models are never really “off duty” anymore, and I view social media as an extension of my career as a whole. Sometimes posting can feel like a chore, and in those cases, I view it as a necessary part of my work, but other times it’s genuinely fun to share and document my life with friends far and wide. It’s the way of the twenty-first-century girl.”
